Did you know that when the Easter Bunny was just a young kitten, he had braces? (record scratch sound followed by crickets) So, I’m sure at this point you are pinching yourself or wondering if I’m even in the same universe as you. Does that mean the Easter Bunny transformed from a kitten to an actual bunny? No silly. And, I personally don’t think that he had braces. I mean seriously, look at those teeth!
Okay. You got me. Only part of that is true. I’ll let you Google that.
I’m sure the Easter Bunny knows what candy is safe for braces and what is not. You however, may not. So, I’m going to give you some tips on what is safe to eat and some ideas for non-food items that can go in a braces-friendly Easter basket.
There are many options besides candy you can put in an Easter basket but everyone loves treats so lets start with that. Treat ideas include plain M&M’s, Rice Krispy Treats, Peanut Butter Cups, Soft Baked Goods, Peeps or Marshmallow treats and Crème filled eggs just to name a few. Now who wouldn’t love a basket filled with these things? I also have a great recipe for “bunny chow” included at the bottom. It is a yummy mix of buttery sugary goodness. It’s sure to put a smile on someone’s face!
Non-Candy items include outside activities such as chalk, bubbles, swim accessories and gardening tools. “Quiet time” favorites include play-doh, coloring books/paint, stuffed animals and movies/games. Devotionals, bibles or other good books are a spring must have! Use your imagination and play off your loved ones interests to find that perfect filler!
Whatever your basket is filled with we hope your hearts are filled with the hope of new beginnings, love and happiness during this Easter Holiday. Wishing you a very Happy Easter from all of us at Backus Orthodontics!
